This annual calendar lists important dates and deadlines for Northern Lights Library System (NLLS) and the Public Library Services Branch (PLSB).

  • January 30 - Municipal Levy due to NLLS

February

  • February 25 - Library Managers Council (LMC) - Online meeting
  • February 28 - Annual Report due to PLSB - More information

March

  • March 31 - Last Day to Order Books from last year's allotment

May

  • May 27 - Library Managers Council (LMC) - In person in Elk Point  

June

  • June 15 - Funding application for Provincial Operating Grant due to PLSB

July

  • June 30 - Library Board Levy due to NLLS

September

  • 23 September - Library Managers Council (LMC) - In person in Elk Point

October

  • October 1 - All NLLS Libraries have transitioned to Leap. Polaris Desktop is no longer available.
  • October 21-22 (Tentative): Stronger Together Conference in Edmonton for 2 days

December

  • December 11 - Last day to order books this calendar year (subject to change)

Events:

  • PLSB Symposium. The last one was June 2025. PLSB will announce future dates.
  • NLLS Webinars – Dates will be announced on the nllspartners list.

Monthly deadlines:

  • Monthly ordering deadlines – submit to orders@nlls.ab.ca:
    • Uline orders due by noon on the 2nd Friday of each month
    • Grand & Toy due by noon on the 3rd Friday of each month
    • Carr McLean due by noon on the 4th Friday of each month

Variable deadlines:

  • When your library approves your annual budget, send a copy of Budget/Receipt and Disbursements to ask@nlls.ab.ca
  • When your library approves a new Plan of Service, send a copy to ask@nlls.ab.ca
  • When your library updates/approves any policy, send a copy to ask@nlls.ab.ca
  • When your library changes your hours (e.g. for holidays, temporary closures, Summer hours), please alert NLLS with as much notice as possible: Instructions
