How do I get started with Inventory?

 

Answer

There are 4 stages to completing inventory: 

  1.     Planning – Determining which collection areas you will inventory and supplies you need. 
  2.     Checking items into inventory (using Leap) 
  3.     Finding our which items have not been inventoried. This involves using Simply Reports to: 
    1.     Run a report to determine your collection codes (e.g. Adult - Fiction) 
    2.     Run reports of items: 
      1.      By collection code, for items that haven’t been inventoried recently 
      2.      For the whole library, for items that have never been inventoried 
    3.     Create record sets of missing items based on those reports. 
  4.     Searching for missing items. This involves: 
    1.     Using Leap to pull up the missing record sets and generate a list to search 
    2.     Double-checking your library for items you may have skipped inventorying 
    3.     Withdrawing items that are missing
