How do I get started with Inventory?
Answer
There are 4 stages to completing inventory:
- Planning – Determining which collection areas you will inventory and supplies you need.
- Checking items into inventory (using Leap)
- Finding our which items have not been inventoried. This involves using Simply Reports to:
- Run a report to determine your collection codes (e.g. Adult - Fiction)
- Run reports of items:
- By collection code, for items that haven’t been inventoried recently
- For the whole library, for items that have never been inventoried
- Create record sets of missing items based on those reports.
- Searching for missing items. This involves:
- Using Leap to pull up the missing record sets and generate a list to search
- Double-checking your library for items you may have skipped inventorying
- Withdrawing items that are missing
