Mugo FAQs - How to Add an Event Exception

I would like to remove the weekly program on our calendar for the last week of December, since we are closed. But when I go to edit it and add a "date rule", it doubles it. What's going on?

Answer

Adding an Event Exception is actually set up like adding a whole new event to your calendar, rather than editing the event you have.

0) Log into the back end of your site and ensure you are in "Content Structure".

1) Open the "Events" area of your site.

2) Find and open the event series you want to add an exception to. This could be cancelling a single event in a longer series, or it could be changing one date in a longer, regular series.

3) Once you're in that event, click "Create New Subitem" and choose "Event Exception".

4) Once you're in the editor, use the dropdown beside "Date information" to choose the date/time of the exact event you want to skip. Choose whether you want to skip the event or change its date.

a. If you choose to “change” the event, a date picker will appear for you to add the your new date.

5) You'll need to add a separate event exception for every date you want to skip.

If you're changing the date rather than cancelling the event altogether, to avoid a holiday or bad weather or something, then you may also want to change some of the information on the event – for example, meeting in a new location or explaining the change in the description. If you fill any of those fields in, it will change that information for only the event on the date you selected under “Date information”. The information for all the other events in the series will remain the same.
If you leave those fields blank, it'll keep everything the same as the original/the rest of the series.
