Mugo FAQs - How To Add An Event
Answer
Events are where you can list programs, board meetings, one-off events, and anything else you want to let your community know about. If you only update one part of your site regularly, we recommend it be the events.
Events show up in three places on your website:
1) As an item in the front page Events
2) As an item in the Calendar
3) As their own page on your website, which you can access by clicking on the event in either the front page Events section or on its calendar event.
Creating an event will automatically put it in all 3 places.
- Log in to the back end of the site.
- Along the left-hand side, ensure you are in “Content Structure”.
- Click on “Events” in the navigation tree. You may need to click any or all of the + signs beside Library Sites, NLLS, or your library’s site to expand it fully.
- Inside Events, click on “Create new subitem” and choose “Event” from the dropdown menu.
- Add your Title and, if you like, an image for the event. Note that in the example at the beginning, Mugo will crop your event image into a long, thin Hero image when it’s on its own page.
- Add the dates and times of the program or event.
- If it will be a recurring event, like a storytime program, start with the first date it will occur, then click the “Single” box below the date and change it to “Recurring”.
- From the options that appear, choose when you want your event to recur and when, if ever, the program will end. You can choose things like “First Friday of the month” or “Every 2 weeks” if you like.
- Add, at the least, a Location and a Category for your event. You can, but don’t need to, add a cost, short description, description, and a subcategory.
- The Short Description will appear in the events section in your Home Page – think of it like a Facebook blurb. The Description will appear on the event’s page on your website, and can contain more details.
- Once you have finished your event, click “Send for Publishing”
