VILLAGE OF MARWAYNE LIBRARY BOARD POTENTIAL BUFFALO TRAIL PUBLIC SCHOOLS STRIKE POLICY

In case of a strike, the Village of Marwayne Library Board and staff are subject to remain open to 
meet the educational needs served through the school, including curriculum, the teachers and the 
students in accordance with the current Agreement for the Operation of a Joint Public and School 
Library.
1. The board recognizes the need to have the Village of Marwayne Public Library open for a total of 
at least three (3) hours per week during school hours in case of a potential strike.

2. The board will pay the wages of one Marwayne Public Library staff member to work the said hours 
during school hours in case of a strike.

3. The hours will change from week to week in accordance with the potential strike schedule.

4. Services to the public will change in accordance with the potential strike schedule.

5. All public patrons will be allowed full use of the library during the potential strike on 
revised open dates and times.

6. In accordance with the Libraries Regulations, the library will remain open to the public outside 
of the hours during which the school is in operation for regular classes, including remaining open 
during evenings or weekends or both, and during the summer.

7. In case of potential strike, teachers must accompany their students to the library.

8. In case of potential strike, library staff will not answer school telephone during school hours.

9. In case of potential strike, public patrons will not be turned away during school hours when a 
library staff member is present and the library is open.
