Policy: Request for Reconsideration of a Publication

PHILOSOPHY:
The Library Manager and the Board will rely on his/her best judgment in consultation with reputable
review sources in the selection of library resources.
POLICY:
The Board will consider any complaint with respect to library resources presented by the Library Manager.
PROCEDURE:
On receipt of a complaint about a specific library resource, the Library Manager will inform the complainant of the censorship policy and request that a “Member’s Request for Reconsideration of a Publication” form be completed in full.
The Library Manager will present the completed and related research materials to the Board, which will initiate reconsideration of the item.
The findings will be discussed at the next Board meeting, at which time a motion will be made with respect to the resource under consideration.
A majority vote by the Board is required for any of the following actions.
Maintaining the resource in circulation.
Making it available on request by adults only.
Removing and disposing of the resource.
Carrying out further review of the resource.
The Library Manager will contact the complainant and inform his/her of the decision of the Board.
