Reporting Abuse Policy - ABRUM

Statement of Belief:
The Library recognizes that abuse may take many forms such as economical, psychological, physical or
sexual abuse.
Policy:
The Library will comply with any reporting requirements laid out in provincial and federal legislation.
Procedures:
1.Child Abuse
A. Any person who believes on reasonable grounds that a child is in need of protection is required by law to
report the belief and the information on which it is based. If the child in question is in immediate danger,
dial 911 immediately. If not, the Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-387-5437) provides 24/7 help.
B. All employees of Metro Kalyn Community Library will read the Government of Alberta’s Recognize Child
Abuse and Neglect.
2.Elder Abuse
A. If the person in question is in immediate danger, dial 911 immediately. If not, you may contact:
Family Violence Info Line (780-310-1818), Edmonton Seniors Abuse Help Line( 780-454-8888) or
Protection for Persons in Care Reporting Line (1-888-357-9339).
B. All employees will read the Government of Alberta’s Facts on Elder Abuse.
