PHILOSOPHY
The Boyle Public Library will provide persons of all ages, means, and capabilities, in the Village of Boyle and surrounding community, with library materials for recreational, cultural, and informational needs.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Boyle Public Library exists to provide and promote effective library services to the residents of the Village of Boyle and the surrounding community by actively investigating and responding to community needs. The Library and its Board are advocates of literacy and communications skills, and believe that library services are essential to the quality of life of Albertans.
This will be achieved by the Boyle Public Library will cooperate with other organizations, agencies and institutions to provide programs or services to meet community needs.
The Library will maintain membership in Northern Lights Library System and The Alberta Library. Through membership in Northern Lights Library System, the Library supports the initiatives as set out by The Alberta Library. The Boyle Public Library also endorses and supports the “Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms”, the Canadian Library Association's “Statement of Intellectual Freedom”, and the “Code of Ethics”, and the Book and Periodical Development Council “Statement on Freedom of Expression and the Freedom to Read” (See Appendix A).
The Library will use the consulting services of Northern Lights Library System and / or the services of the Libraries Branch as the need arises.
To support this mission, the Boyle Public Library Board will review and update policies on a regular basis in order to keep library services timely and current.
*The Boyle Public Library shall be carried on without purpose of gain for it’s members and any profits or other accretions to the organization shall be used solely to promote it’s objectives.
