Materials Acquisition Policy
Answer
Boyle Public Library will purchase books, periodicals, audio and visual materials from jobbers, retail or wholesale suppliers, and Northern Lights Library System.
Unsolicited items received via the mail which have or have no invoices included will be kept and considered a donation.
Boyle Public Library will not act as a purchasing agent (of books and other materials) for the general public or patrons. Patrons requesting specific materials to be purchased for the library may be accommodated, if the request falls into the criteria for materials selection.
PROVISION OF LIBRARY MATERIALS FOR THOSE UNABLE TO USE CONVENTIONAL PRINT MATERIALS
The Board will, to the best of its ability, try to supply library materials to those who are unable to use conventional print materials. These materials can be accessed through Northern Lights Library System and Interlibrary loan.
Boyle Public Library has partnered with CNIB and CELA (Centre for Equitable Library Access) to provide a Daisy Reader and Talking Books.
PROVISION ON LIBRARY MATERIALS IN LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH
Boyle Public Library Board acknowledges the multicultural nature of our community, and will therefore provide access to library materials in languages other than English via interlibrary Loan or other source
DONATIONS
Boyle Public Library may or may not accept donations of library materials, at the discretion of the librarians.
PROVISION OF SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
Boyle Public Library will enhance the existing collection by bringing in Audio, Theme and Large
Print block collections form Northern Lights Library System.
