Continuing Education of Staff

  1. Staff are expected and encouraged to continue their professional development through attendance at conferences, seminars and workshops or professional membership.

  1. Such attendance or membership is to be determined in consultation with the Board.

  1. A report shall be made to the Board following attendance of a professional development activity.

  1. The library manager shall be paid $100.00 per diem in lieu of an hourly wage.

  1. The library staff shall be paid a travel honorarium. See appendix 101.1

Orientation and Continuing Education of the Board

  1. A new trustee will be provided with an orientation package consisting of:
  1. Alberta Libraries Act and Regulations
  2. Bylaws and policies of the Smoky Lake Public Library
  3. Current Library Plan of Service for Smoky Lake Public Library

  1. The new trustee will be expected to review the Smoky Lake Public Library financial statement and budget

  1. Trustees are encouraged to attend library or trustee courses or conferences with Board approval.
