How to Log Into Solaro

I'm trying to figure out how to access Solaro.

Is there a way to log in with my library card, like you do have for LinkedIn Learning, or is it just there to tell me that it exists and I have to buy a membership?

If there is a way to log in somehow, could you please help me understand how to do that?

Answer

There is library access to Solaro like there is for LinkedIn, but you may have difficulty getting to it via Solaro itself. Library access to Solaro is through a very specific link on the library website that authenticates you as a library user. A lot of smaller library eResources don't have a place on their own website to log in as a library user, so the only way to get in is through the library's website.

You can use this link to authenticate Solaro if you are a member of a Northern Lights library, or you can go to your library's website > eResources page > click the Solaro link.

Solaro is also a little different from most other eResources in that logging in with your library barcode and PIN doesn't get you into the resource itself - Solaro will give you a username and password to copy down and use on the regular Solaro website.

The full steps to get into Solaro would be:

1) Follow the library's specific Solaro link

2) Log in using your library barcode and PIN (usually the last 4 digits of the phone number you signed up with)

3) Re-enter your library barcode on the Solaro side

4) Copy the username and password Solaro gives you to your password manager or wherever you keep your logins

5) Navigate to app.solaro.com and enter your Solaro username and password to log in and (finally!) gain access to the resource

Once you have your username and password, you should be able to use it to access app.solaro.com without having to do steps 1-4 again.
