Leap: How do I change a patron's home branch in Leap?

A patron has moved to our town from another TRAC library community and wishes to change her membership to our local library. How do I do this in Leap?

Answer

With the new Polaris Permissions, anyone with Tier 4 of the new Polaris Permissions will have the ability to change a patron's home branch. At minimum, that will be most library managers and supervisors.

To change a patron's home branch and address information, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Leap (Here are instructions to do that if you need them.)
  2. Search the patron's barcode number in the "scan or search" bar.
  3. Select "Registration" to view the patron's registration info.
  4. Verify the full name and birth date of the patron against their ID (or get them to verbally confirm it for you)  to be sure it is the correct patron.
  5. In the "Registered At*" drop-down menu, select the correct new library.
  6. In the Address tab on the left hand side, enter the new local address of the patron (again, verify as you would with any new patron)
  7. Reset address check date according to local policy.
