Mugo FAQs: How do I add a new block to my homepage?
OR: How do I add a second set of Featured Cards or Book Lists?
I deleted my Land Acknowledgement, how do I get it back?
Can I add a second banner to my website?
Answer
Your website’s homepage is divided into “blocks” with different types of content in each – for example, Banners, News, Events, and Booklists. You can rearrange, remove, and add blocks to your homepage in whatever order or combination you like. Here is how to add a new block to your homepage.
For a printable version of this article with screenshots, see the link at the bottom of the article.
- Log into your Mugo website. See the Mugo FAQ on How To Log In if you are uncertain of this step.
- Ensure you are in the “Content Structure” side of the website.
- Navigate to your library in the left-hand navigation and click on the house icon beside your library’s name.
- From the menu that opens, click “Edit in”.
- From the submenu that opens, click “English (Canada)”.
- From the menu on the left side of the screen, choose “Layout”.
- Click the down arrow beside “Banner Carousel” to open the dropdown menu.
- Choose the new block you want to add – in this case, I am adding “Land Acknowledgement”.
- Click the “Add block” button beside the dropdown menu.
- Add content to your block, if it’s needed.
Events, News, and HQ News blocks will automatically display the content stored in your News and Events folders on your site (or in the HQ News folder on NLLS’ site), so you don’t need to add anything in the Layout editor for them.
For Banner Carousel, Book List, Featured Cards, and Fun Facts, you will need to add something to the blocks if you want them to display on your site – usually by navigating to and choosing something you have already created in your Media Library.
For the Land Acknowledgement (pictured), you will need to copy and paste your land acknowledgement into the “Body” box.
- Scroll to the top or bottom of the screen and click “Send for publishing”.
