Printing from a phone or tablet using Princh
How to print from a phone or tablet using Princh?
Answer
There are two ways to print from a phone or tablet using Princh - going through the website, or going through the Princh app. The website option is simpler in the sense of not needing an app and working through the web browser. It also makes it easy to print multiple files at one time. However, printing with the app lets you print straight from an email attachment instead of needing to download the file, which is handy. If you have regular Princh users, they may appreciate its functionality. However, you can only print one file at a time using the app. See the attached PDFs for detailed steps and screenshots for both Android and iOS. Here is a quick overview:
1. The Website
To upload a file to print.princh.com, the file has to be saved on the patron's phone or tablet. If the file is attached to an email in the patron's inbox, or if the file is on a website, they won't be able to upload it. The patron will need to download the file onto the phone, and then proceed to the website to upload it there. This process is easier to navigate on a computer, but patrons may not have experience finding files on the local storage of their phone and may require your guidance.
2. The App
Patrons can download the app by searching for "Princh" in their app store. It does not require them to create an account to use it. Once it is downloaded, they can go to the document they need to print. The app gives instructions to follow. In short, the patron goes to the document, whether it be an email attachment or already saved on their phone. They find the "share" button (which looks different in Android vs. iOS), and select options like "Print with Princh" or "Princh", and a screen appears telling them to return to the Princh app. When the Princh app is opened, they're prompted to enter your library's Printer ID and proceed to print.
