Where Can I Find the Training for the new Polaris Permissions?

Answer

All member library staff and volunteers are required to complete certain aspects of the Polaris permissions training. Each permissions tier builds on the knowledge of the last, so a manager would require all four tiers of training, while a volunteer might only require one or two, depending on their responsibilities.  In order to prevent interruption of Polaris/ Leap access, initial training must be completed by June 30th 2025.

The following are the Tier Breakdowns

Tier 1 - All Staff - FOIP and TRAC Operating Guidelines-- this should be reviewed bi-annually to ensure all staff and managers remain up to date and conversant with this information.

Tier 2 - Record Sets - this should be reviewed as needed to ensure knowledge and best practices remain fresh and up-to-date.

Tier 3 - Item Blocks & On-the-Fly Records - this should be reviewed as needed to ensure knowledge and best practices remain fresh and up-to-date.

Tier 4 - Merging Patrons & Changing Patron Home Branch - this should be reviewed as needed to ensure knowledge and best practices remain fresh and up-to-date.

Tier CP - Collection Processing Add-on - this should be reviewed as needed to ensure knowledge and best practices remain fresh and up-to-date.
