Volume control is activated by adding any information to the Volume field, but it should only be used for periodicals and splitting television series. It forces patrons to choose a specific volume when placing a hold on Tracpac.ab.ca. This means that only items with that volume can fulfill the hold, and incorrectly used volume control stops other libraries from being able to circulate properly - patrons will lose their place in line if an item with incorrect volume control is removed from the system, instead of just being bumped to the next copy in queue.
