Sending and Receiving Items
Answer
Sending and Receiving Items
- Use Check In to scan item into Polaris.
- If the item is on hold for a patron belonging to another library, the item status will change to In Transit upon check in and a message will tell you to send the item to the pickup location.
- Print the accompanying slip using the receipt printer. Place the slip in the item so the top part of it is sticking out from the top of the item. The top part of the slip shows the destination library.
- Place item in a bin for van run.
- If the item is going to one of your own patrons, follow your library’s procedures for processing and contacting them.
Important Notes
- Please use van run bins for van run only, as there are a limited number of bins.
- When receiving new items, check the items against the packing slip for any problems or missing items. If there is something wrong, please contact the NLLS Processor immediately. Please call the NLLS mainline or email directly to do so. All NLLS staff contact information can be found under https://www.nlls.ab.ca/sign-in. Please sign and date the packing slips and return to NLLS on the next van run. You may also fax signed packing slip to NLLS HQ: 1-780-724-2597.
- When sending documents, please try to indicate to whom they are going to.
- Please pack all fragile items at the top of the bin they are in.
- To send an item, use the same method you received with. Eg, if you received it in van run, send it back in van run,
