Book Warranty Program

The Book Warranty Program allows libraries to replace certain damaged items at no cost.

Eligibility

  • Items must have been purchased through NLLS using your book allotment.

  • The item must have been purchased and received by the library within the last year.

  • The item must be softcover and valued at $15 or higher.

  • Replacement is available only if the item was damaged by a patron and can no longer circulate.

When to Submit

Use this program when items are so damaged that they cannot be recirculated. Examples may include torn or missing pages, water damage, or broken bindings.

How to Submit

  1. Complete the Book Warranty Form.

  2. Provide the following details on the form:

    • Item barcode

    • Title and author

    • Library code

    • Description of how the item was damaged

    • Type of damage (e.g., torn, water, spine broken)

    • Name of the staff member who authorized the submission

    • Whether your library would like credit toward your book allotment or a replacement item

Why This Information Matters

NLLS requires this information to:

  • Locate the item in Polaris

  • Track statistics as we implement this new initiative
